Calcutta High Court Essential Qualifications: -

  • Category A (Persons having the ability to translate Hindi and Bengali to English and vice versa): Must be a graduate in any one of the three languages ​​from any recognized University and should have the fluency in other two languages;
  • Category B (Persons having the ability to translate Hindi and Urdu to English and vice versa): Must be a graduate in Hindi from any recognized University having adequate knowledge in Urdu and English;
  • Category C (Persons having the ability to translate Bengali and Nepali to English and vice versa): Must be a graduate in Nepalese from any recognized university and must be in the fluency in other two languages;
  • Category D (Persons having the ability to translate Bengali and Olchiki / Santhali to English and vice versa): Must be a graduate in Olchiki or Santhali from any recognized University and should have the fluency in the other two languages

Note: Knowledge of any additional Indian language qualification

Age - 

  • Age limit for eligible candidates will be minimum 18 years and maximum 40 years as on January 1, 2019. (Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in case of S.C. and S.T. candidates of West Bengal only). Age, as recorded in Madhyamik or equivalent certificate, will only be accepted

N.B .: The SC / ST / OBC (A) / OBC (B) candidates of other states will be treated as unreserved category candidates

Calcutta High Court Examination Fees

  •  Examination fees for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes candidates for West Bengal, will be Rs. 100 / - and for rest categories of candidates, examination fees will be Rs. 300 / -. Examination fees will be paid through bank challan payable at UBI, in favor of Registrar, Original Side, High Court, Calcutta, A / C no.0091010372343, High Court, Branch. Copy of bank challan is annexed herewith and same can be download
  • No fees need be given candidates by Exempted categories only whose names Will be sponsored by the appropriate authorities

Eligible candidates may submit hand-written or typed applications on
plain paper of legal size (8.5 "x 14"), addressed to Registrar, Original Side, High Court, Calcutta,
giving details as under: -
(1) Full name of candidate (in capital letters), (2) Father's / Husband's Name, (3) Date of Birth, (4)
Actual age as on 01.01.2019, (5) Address (Present and Permanent, along with PIN code) with
Telephone / Mobile number, (6) Educational Qualifications, (7) Other Qualifications, (8)
Knowledge in operating computer, (9) Whether belongs to S.C. / S.T. / O.B.C (A) /
O.B.C. (B) /; (10) Whether belongs to exempted category, if yes, mention the Identity Card
Number and date issued from Labor Dept Govt. of West Bengal (11) In case of S.C./ S.T./
O.B.C (A) /O.B.C (B), mention certificate number and date; (12) Nationality and (13) Details of
depositing application fees Full signature of  candidate with date must be given at bottom of the application.
